Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

ipl

IPL is a type of light treatment that uses strong pulses of light to stimulate or treat various issues within the skin for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes. This therapy treats the underlying cause of meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and dry eye syndrome (DES), providing lasting results for millions of dry eye patients.

How does it work?

IPL works by improving the function of the meibomian glands. The meibomian glands are found in the eyelids and have an important function for normal tear film. IPL helps to reduce inflammation, decrease ocular redness (rosacea), destroy bacteria and demodex mites, and improves the tear film.

Benefits of IPL:

  • Reduces pigmentation, sun damage & brown spots
  • Kills harmful bacteria that causes blepharitis and acne
  • Treats rosacea and broken blood vessels
  • Helps treat meibomian gland dysfunction, a common cause of most chronic dry eye symptoms
  • Rejuvenates face by reducing fine lines and wrinkles

When will I see results?

It is common to have results even after one treatment. Usually, a series of 3-6 treatments helps to keep optimal results. After the series of treatments, you may need another treatment every 6-12 months for maintenance.
